Is a D-link better than a SOHO switch for some reason? Security or something?

Had a D-Link die today, had a SOHO switch I'd gotten years ago so I tried it and it worked great. Is there a security component to D-Link that SOHO switches don't have? Is there some other factors I should understand? The SOHO is a "CNET total network solutions" brand. Thanks for anything you can tell me.
