Will i get a berth as i am on waiting list?

i booked a train ticket for 28th June. i got the waiting list. its been three days since then. i am still on the waiting list. numbered 12 and 34 respectively.I am getting nervous now and dont know what to do. should i cancel my ticket and book a new one under Tatkal/emergency service or should i wait hoping that it will be confirmed. Is there any guarantee that passengers on waiting list will get a berth one or two days before departure date? AND this is INDIAN RAILWAYS..
