What does it mean when a flight is on time?

This may seem like a stupid question, mainly because it seems pretty blatant, but a lot of flights in the country I am in have been cancelled or delayed due to weather conditions regarding a volcano (Argentina) and I was checking flight statuses and American Airlines says "on time" next to the departure status... What does this mean? Does it mean it's flying? Thank you!
